Position Overview

We are looking for a broadly experienced Corporate Controller to join our dedicated accounting team.  The Corporate Controller has three critical accountabilities. The first is to provide sound and efficient execution of all core accounting functions in support of our diverse and acquisition-oriented business operations. The second is to partner both inside and outside the accounting/finance team to align accounting activities to organization objectives, which will include the development or redesign/enhancement of processes and procedures. Lastly, the Corporate Controller will be responsible for mentoring and developing the accounting team.  The Corporate Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will work from our facility in Algonquin, Illinois.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently and consistently produce accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and in compliance with our  internal controls
    • Manage and review month, quarter and year-end close
    • Identify and execute process enhancements
    • Analyze, interpret and present detailed results
  • Manage internal and external financial reporting requirements, including preparation of the annual Audit Report, board materials,  dashboards, and ad hoc requests
  • Drive cash optimization and working capital management strategies and processes in highly leveraged environment
  • Provide strong and sustained leadership, support and guidance to accounting team regarding both technical accounting/financial functions and their professional growth, development, and engagement
  • Partner cross-functionally within the organization as senior accounting counsel in the tactical and strategic operations of the business
  • Spearhead technical accounting research and management of complex accounting issues
  • Lead accounting support for M&A integration activities, ensuring thoughtful and efficient linkage to current operations
  • Partner with cost accountant to drive consistent costing methodologies and strategic data across diverse business operations (manufacturing and buy/sell)
  • Oversee and maintain accounting infrastructure within ERP platform
  • Administer outsourced tax compliance function
  • Manage year-end audit

 

 

Qualifications:

  • 9+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a strong preference for experience in a manufacturing environment; public accounting and private equity ownership experience a plus
  • 3+ years of experience successfully leading and developing an accounting team
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Must have experience with Mergers and Acquisitions and the integration of accounting back office functions
  • CPA required
  • Demonstrated application of technical accounting skills across a diversity of business operations, specifically within the areas of: financial statement creation/review, financial reporting analysis, monitoring of key metrics, working capital/cash flow management, and costing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to partner/collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Comfort and capability with ERP and budgeting systems
  • Ability to adjust in a fast-paced environment, managing deadlines proactively and effectively deploying resources
