Summary: The Shipping Team Lead position will oversee the on-floor warehouse operations on a day to day basis that have been identified by the Shipping Supervisor.  The Team Lead will be responsible for ensuring that the daily tasks and objectives are being properly managed and prioritized by their team. This position will work closely with Distribution, Production Management and Quality Control to make sure daily requirements and tasks are being fulfilled.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage organization and prioritization of customer orders - reserving inventory, printing pick-lists, and itemizing pick-lists to meet applicable requirements (Canada, International, Expedite, etc.)
  • Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed and/or shipped
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves, or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping department
  • Support Warehouse Associates with trouble-shooting problems that may surface: ERP system issues, Inventory, and/or shipping paperwork
  • Assist in counting of physical inventory
  • Ensures the marking of materials with identifying information as indicated by company standards
  • Oversees necessary cycle counts per inventory parts
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Sweep, dust and mop; organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times
  • Actively participates in Lean Manufacturing Activities:  5S, Continuous Improvement and Kaizan projects
  • In collaboration with the Warehouse Supervisor and Warehouse Material Handler – Team Lead, will be responsible for identifying labor needs, updates on specific project tasks and open-ended items needing resolution

Related Duties: Perform other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant warehouse experience, including 1 or more years in a lead role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Knowledge of manufacturing in a regulated environment (FDA, ISO, etc.), preferred
  • Safe operation of forklift and hand trucks equipment
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
  • Ability to be a self-starter, follow-through and have a strong sense of urgency in accomplishing goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization

Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to
sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk frequently during the shift; repeated twisting at the torso while lifting and pulling inventory from shelves.  The position may require working extended hours or on weekends as needed.  Incumbent will regularly need to lift up to 20 lbs. and occasionally need to lift up to 40 lbs.

Working Conditions
Manufacturing plant environment, with some abnormal variations in temperature, unavoidable fumes, noise, dust and atmospheric conditions.
