Role Overview
We are seeking a talented Senior Corporate Accountant/Cost to join the dynamic and highly collaborative finance team at our Algonquin, Illinois facility. The Senior Corporate/Cost Accountant will be responsible for all accounting and financial reporting activities for our Grafton, WI, and Missoula, MT manufacturing facilities along with the Mydent distribution business located in Algonquin, IL. This individual will also lead the lead the cost accounting process at these locations and work with operations management to review, monitor and address manufacturing and supply chain variances. This position will report to the Corporate Controller, and work closely with the Director of FP&A, the CFO and members of the local operating management at the assigned facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform all month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities for the Microbrush, American Eagle and Mydent business units
• Analyze monthly Balance Sheet and P&L accounts and provide explanations for significant variances from budget, prior month and historical trends
• Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis and highlight issues to be addressed prior to the next closing cycle
• Prepare calculations for all accrual accounts including but not limited to: rebates, royalties, commissions, taxes and payroll
• Maintain and analyze all labor and overhead rates for two key manufacturing facilities
• Work with the operations teams at the Grafton, Missoula and Algonquin facilities to review, monitor and address manufacturing and supply chain variances
• Lead the annual standard cost review and update process for the Grafton, Missoula and Algonquin facilities
• Monitor and report on cycle counting activities at the Grafton, Missoula and Algonquin facilities
• Lead the quarterly review of the reserve for excess and obsolete inventory, with more frequent reviews of specific products as requested
• Assist with audits and other special projects
• Seek out and implement process improvement opportunities across the Finance organization or within the respective business units
• Research complex accounting issues and prepare recommendations for policy or procedure changes
• Support the FP&A Team by providing timely and accurate analysis of financial data
• Support integration teams on new acquisitions

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, CPA preferred
• 6+ years of relevant work experience, preferably at a manufacturing plant or distribution facility. Experience with Private Equity a plus
• Experience with IFS (ERP) or other similar ERP systems
• Superior analytical skills with the capability to identify and resolve root-cause problems
• Ability to work autonomously across a number of business units and collaborate effectively with various levels and functional areas
• Ability to proactively manage deadlines and acute attention to detail an accuracy
• Extremely organized
• Advanced computer/system skills, including: advanced level Microsoft Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization
